"The Other Guys"

While not nearly as horrific a “comedy” as say Norbit, The Other Guys definitely makes me wish I had spent roughly about the same amount of time tweezing body hair. It might be a rental if you’ve seen everything else.
Unfortunately most of what could be called the funny lines in the movie have already been seen in previews. Samuel Jackson and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson do what they can in a short amount of time. Will Ferrell does his mild-mannered best to save the movie with a character that you can’t help but root for. Like most of the other characters, however, Mark Wahlberg starts off as a loud jerk and the best that can be said for him is that he ends up being a slightly-quieter jerk.
Wahlberg is partnered with Ferrell because he can’t do anything right, including accidentally shooting Derek Jeter, which as someone remarks, “You should have shot A-Rod.” Maybe they should have included more abuse of the Yankees for laughs. Wahlberg is fairly creepy with Ferrell’s wife played by Eva Mendes. Mendes is good in her limited screen time with the exception of one bad overacting moment which she probably contracted from Wahlberg.
