Week 8 predictions

Coming back from Mississippi last Sunday listening to Larry, Sonny and Sam on the radio. It stills sounds weird without Frank in the front. My driving was about as erratic as the Redskins offense. We got home in time to see DeAngelo Hall go for seven; getting his jersey in the Hall of Fame and proving that not all 'Skins DBs have stone-hands. That helped jump-start a 10-4 week, along with some officiating in Miami, and a perfect prognostication (or lucky guess) of the Sunday-night score. Fans in the stands Monday night were chanting, "Let's go Rangers," illustrating just how lousy they think the Cowboys are. What a shame!
The Falcons are on a bye so I have a shot at watching the Redskins game at the house. If not, off to Wild Wings I go.
Last Week: 10-4  straight up (61-43 to date)             6-6 vs. the spread (42-59 to date)

Washington Redskins at
Detroit Lions

Line: Redskins + 2.5
A danger game for the Redskins as they face an improved Lions team on the road. LaRon Landry uses his head for a crucial late interception. The Lions have covered the spread in all but one of their previous games-make it two. Redskins 24-14.

Green Bay Packers at
New York Jets

Line: Jets -3
The Jets have had a week off to get ready for the Packers who rebounded with a win over the Vikings. Too much Jets D and L.T. Jets: 27-21

Denver Broncos vs.
San Francisco 49ers (in London)

Line: Pick'em
The 49ers still stink and the Broncos can't be nearly as bad as they were last week. The Niners left for London immediately after losing to Carolina; not for preparation, just to get out of town. Broncos 20-17

Jacksonville Jaguars at
Dallas Cowboys

Line: Jaguars +6
Dallas hasn't won at home, Tomo Romo is down for the count, and I just don't like them. Jaguars 21-20
Jaguars 21-20

Miami Dolphins at
Cincinnati Bengals

Line: Dolphins +2
The Dolphins don't win at home, good thing they're on the road. The Bengals put up big numbers against the Falcons-not this week. Dolphins 17-14

Carolina Panthers at
St. Louis Rams

Line: Rams -3
The Rams struggle in the second half, so they get it done in the first half. Even with a broken finger, Steven Jackson puts up big numbers and return the Panthers to the loss column.  Rams 21-17

Buffalo Bills
at Kansas City Chiefs
Line: Chiefs -7.5
The Bills put a scare into the Ravens last week, but the Chiefs are rolling and home-field-advantage helps pull them through. Chiefs 28-24

Tennessee Titans at
San Diego Chargers

Line: Chargers -3.5
The Chargers play better at home, so maybe they only have one special-teams meltdown. The Titans enjoy a litttle West Coast hospitality.  Titans 23-20

Minnesota Vikings at
New England Patriots
Line: Pick'em

Brett Favre's injury has taken attention away from his penchant for allegedly sending junk mail. Will his starting streak end? The only streak important here is losing which after Sunday will be three in four games for the Vikes.  Patriots 31-21

Seattle Seahawks at
Oakland Raiders
Line: Raiders -2

Both teams revert to unspectacular form with the Raiders being just good enough.  Raiders 17-16

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at
Arizona Cardinals
Line: Cardinals -3

Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris says his team is the best in the NFC, so this pick is easy.  Buccaneers 20-13

Pittsburgh Steelers at
New Orleans Saints
Line: Pick'em

The Saints try to rebound from an abysmal performance against a bad team, which the Steelers aren't. It's paperbag week for Saints fans.  Steelers 23-17

Houston Texans at
Indianapolis Colts
Line: Colts -5.5

The Colts don't even try to establish a running game even with the loss of Dallas Clark. The Colts jump out to an early lead which negates the Texans' advantage on the ground. Another exciting shootout. Colts 37-31
